Reflecting on 2021

2021 has been a crazy year for everyone in every industry but in recruitment we have faced a whole collection of new and unique challenges and a job market like we haven’t experienced before.

As the year draws to a close we wanted to look back with a positive note and celebrate all of our successes, of which there were many.

We asked our directors, Jo and Louise, to reflect on the year we have had…

Jo B:

“2021 in recruitment, what a whirlwind!

The first few months were very quiet and it took a while to get things going, it was a bit of a fact finding exercise to determine what the market was like on both the candidate and client side.

At the start of the second quarter it was extremely busy with lots of vacancies flooding in, great relationships were formed with new clients on board and there was an exciting buzz in the office! However, it wasn’t so exciting on the candidate side unfortunately…we really struggled with securing suitable people for the majority of the vacancies we took on. Given this we needed to work extra hard to attract candidates and despite the struggle, we still had amazing success as a team. This is still the case and we are hopeful that 2022 will prove to be even more successful!

2021 has taught us a lot both individually and as team, whatever is thrown at us we persist and we are passionate about what do – more than ever! Bring on 2022 😊”

 Louise:

“What a year!

It started off with a whisper as we braced ourselves for a continuation of the pandemic.

Business faltered as so many people were working from home, a cautiousness existed around recruiting as there was so much insecurity everywhere.

In March, everything changed as the first steps were announced towards coming out of lockdown, and the whisper turned into a roar as the economy bounced back and the vacancies started pouring in!

We were registering more jobs than ever before but with the complication of an ever-growing shortage of candidates.

The job market has continued to be buoyant throughout the year and all our priorities have been focused on attracting candidates to fill the positions.

We have all worked closely as a team to maximise every opportunity as it arose, and we have ended the year with great success.

A huge thank you to everyone here at Red Door for rallying together, and our amazing clients and candidates who have been understanding and supportive.

We are all looking forward to a fantastic 2022 as we continue the upward swing, despite the new variant.

Whatever we encounter next year, we have shown we are a strong and resilient nation of people, and how quickly we can react in adversity.”

We want to say a massive thank you to all of our candidates and clients who worked with us to navigate these new challenges and ever changing world.

We would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a lovely New Year and we will see you all again in 2022!

Our office is open throughout the Christmas period so please don’t hesitate to give us a call and send your CV in to us at info@reddoorrecruitment.co.uk. Our phone lines will be open the 27th, 28th, 29th and 30th of December and then back on the 4th of Jan.
