We are recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to join our welcoming and expanding client in their beautiful modern offices in St Albans.

You will be responsible for assisting in the accounts for the company’s group of properties. This includes processing rental payments for leasehold properties, the collection of rents receivable, and reconciliations. Liaising with landlords, tenants, senior management and other departments – this is a varied role in a large fast-paced and busy office, so requires a confident communicator.

You will develop accounting and practical skills through the shadowing of other Finance Department members, so if you’re looking for an interesting role and want to work for an exciting growing business, this is the opportunity for you!

Key responsibilities:

  • Processing monthly and quarterly invoicing of tenant rents and utilities

  • Processing payment of leasehold property rents

  • Maintaining the property database

  • Providing accounting information to external consultants

  • Assisting in the preparation of billing and cash collection data

  • Maintaining bank reconciliations

  • Credit control duties

  • Ad hoc accounts or admin duties for other departments as required

What the employer is looking for:

  • At least 1 year of administration or accounts experience

  • Confident communicator - both verbal and written

  • Computer literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Excel) and Sage 200 programmes

  • A basic understanding of credit control and accounting reconciliation would be beneficial, but not essential

  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and to work to deadlines

  • Ability to develop positive working relationships with colleagues and external contacts

  • Analytical and problem solving skills

  • Rational decision making and strategic thinking
